Finnish house-duo Something Good started busting out tracks only a couple years ago, and already they managed to get their newest yield released on Nocturnal Groove, a label ran by legendary house act The Shapeshifters.

"Wannabe" is a summery track full of that 80's spirit with a fat rolling bass-line, atmospheric arpeggios and a mighty piano riff. It was released roughly a week ago, and the release can also be found on the house charts on Beatport at position 62. Appleseeds

Stardust did it again. DJ EQ's "Appleseed" EP was released less than a week ago, and it's already entered the Nu Disco / Indie Dance charts on Beatport in both tracks and releases. All the tracks are rocking, but these two stood out.

Up and coming Polish producer Jackie has been busting out some royally funky shiznitt lately. This one is a bit more laid-back than his usual work, but it doesn't lack that trademark Jackie-funk. That growling bass sound is to die for.

It's been exciting to find more and more people who have started bringing back the true funk sound to house. Tonyboy's take on the title track is a filter-flavoured jacking house treat. Ego has been releasing really delightful Richard Grey tracks recently, of which I already featured one a while back. They mix modern and "shiny" sounds with classic funky house basslines and samples. I'm not the biggest fan of Richard Grey's other present-day productions, but the ones released under (or with) his House Republic -alias are absolutely capital. "Turn Your Love Around" is one of the best tracks released this year.

Let me introduce you to the Oslo/Japan based duo Fukuyama, whose, erm, interesting background story can be read on their SoundCloud page. "Sex, Weed, Temple" is a mash-up of Fukuyama's instrumental track (or more like remix) "Temple" and the vocal track of Juice String's "Sex Weed". Lovely sunny mood, funky guitars and a brass section, I love it.

French producer FrenchFilter's (yeah, you might've guessed that) "Honey" might be a bit heavily side-chained, but it has such a nice and relaxed vibe that it still deserves attention and gets me on a good mood.

This sunny funky houser was released on Erik Bo's own Funk Mansion label just a week ago. His tracks always have that awesome happy summer vibe to them. "French Kiss" is a straight-forward funky house track with a nice groovy bassline and a catchy vocal riff.

Finally some old-school house to seal the deal. "Say Ooh (Olav Basoski Remix)" was originally released in 2004 and now it's been re-released by Delecto Recordings as part of the "Christan Alvarez Remixed" compilation. The track features a catchy sax riff, seductive female vocals and very funky disco guitars.

"Inside & Out" is a beautiful soulful jam originally released in 2006 by Duffnote Records. Richard on the keyboards and production and Mr. Vargas on the sax is an unbeatable combination. Of course we also mustn't forget about Matt Gray's outstanding performance on the bass and the funky guitars courtesy of Tom Mills.

Going even further back to the year 2002, only a couple years after Defected was founded, this track gets released. It's got a big percussion section, a funky sax and such a groovy bassline – everything a classic oldschool track needs. The speech sums up everything just perfectly: "You know what it's all about, that feeling we have. That feeling that's been gone for way too long, yeah. Just sit back, close your eyes and re-memorize. We gotta return to that feeling."
